Dr. Alan D. Andrews is a well-respected, board-certified dermatologist who, with the assistance of well-trained dermatology nurses, has been providing up-to-date medical and surgical skin care for patients of all ages in Closter for over 30 years.

His Closter office is equipped with modern phototherapy facilities for the treatment of severe psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, and other chronic skin conditions. When needed, Dr. Andrews performs skin biopsies and skin surgeries in the office.

For scheduling convenience, we offer daytime and evening hours. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Feel free to call either for questions or an appointment.

About

Dr. Andrews is a diplomate of the American Board
of Dermatology.  He received his M.D. Degree from
the University of Virginia School of Medicine and
took his residency training at the National
Institute of Health and at New York Columbia
Presbyterian Medical Center.  He offers services in
general dermatology, dermatologic surgery,
phototherapy, and consultative dermatology.

Our office hours are as follows:

Monday:    9:00 am to 12:30 pm
Tuesday:    9:00 am to 6:15 pm
Wednesday:  2:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Thursday:  9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Friday:      9:00 am to 4:45 pm
Appointments may be made by calling during
these hours.  In emergencies, if Dr. Andrews is not
in the office, he can be reached via the office
answering service (which is reached by calling
the office number).

Payment for services rendered in the office
(copays or self pay) is expected at the time of the
visit.  Payment may be made by personal check or
cash.  We accept credit (Visa / MC / DISCOVER), debit, or flex
spending cards at this time.  For larger fees (e.g.
surgery), or frequent visits (e.g. phototherapy),
special payment plans can be arranged with the
office manager, preferably in advance.

General Dermatology

Includes the diagnosis and treatment of  :
1.   Skin rashes of any kind: atopic dermatitis or other forms of eczema, psoriasis, seborrhea, ringworm, jock itch, poison ivy, other allergic rashes, diaper rash.
2.   Itching, dry or scaly skin, hives.
3.   Acne, rosacea, impetigo, skin infections, boils, folliculitis, hidradenitis.
4.   Warts (common, flat, genital or plantar), molluscum.
5.   Moles, birthmarks, nevi, skin tags, angiomas, other skin growths.
6.   Keratoses, age-spots, sun-damaged skin.
7.   Skin cancers (basal cell or squamous cell carcinomas, melanomas).
8.   Scars, keloids, cysts, fatty tumors, fibromas, corns calluses.
9.   Hair disorders, baldness (alopecia), hair loss, scalp rashes, dandruff.
10. Nail disorders (fingers or toes), fungus infections of nails, paronychia.
11. Cold sores, herpes, ulcers, or sores of genitals or of mouth.
12. Shingles, herpes zoster.
13. Insect bites, stings, lice, scabies.
14. Vitiligo, melasma, changes in skin color or pigmentation.

Dermatologic Surgery

Including  :
1. Surgical removal of benign skin tumors, skin cancers, keloids, moles, birthmarks, cysts, lipomas, xanthelasmas, skin tags.
2. Repair of earlobes torn by pierced earrings.

Phototherapy

Ultraviolet light therapy (either Narrow Band UVB, or PUVA, as appropriate) for psoriasis, parapsoriasis, vitiligo, mycosis fungoides (cutaneous T-cell lymphoma), severe eczema and certain other conditions.

Consultative Services

Dr. Andrews in on the staff at Holy Name Hospital; he is available to do dermatologic consultations on patients when requested to do so by a patient's attending physician.
